With the 2024 Summer Sailing Season at a complete end, behind the scenes work has been carried out in retrieving the marks from Dublin Bay and storing them for the winter.
Declan Curtin, a key member of the DBSC Committee, has been organising the logistics of the retrieval. As you can see from the photos below, the chain is separated and graded. Marks are checked and loaded.
It won’t be long before they are back, repainted, restored and deployed in the Bay once more in 2025.
A big ‘Thank You’ to Declan!
In the meantime, look what was spotted in Sligo. As Omega has been replaced with an IALA Special Mark as part of the DCU Predict Project, an old Omega mark has a new life in Sligo!
