VPRS

VPRS is a rating system that enables monohull yachts to race fairly against one another.

Proved through testing and extensive use over the last 14 years, VPRS offers yacht clubs a single system which is easy to use and gives accurate ratings across a vast range of yacht types based only upon measurement data.

The data is used to configure a Velocity Prediction Program (VPP) which predicts the boat’s speed for a range of wind speeds and directions. Then it calculates a Time Correction Coefficient (TCC) from these, which is used to correct elapsed times in a race.

YTC

Irish Sailing has introduced the YTC rating system as a new entry-level option for club cruiser racing in Ireland.

Designed to encourage wider participation, YTC offers a straightforward and transparent rating suitable for a broad range of cruising yachts and cruiser-racers. Previously available only in the UK, Irish Sailing has now secured access for Irish boats, and the application portal is open.

YTC is suitable for both White Sails and Spinnaker classes and is intended to complement the ECHO handicap system widely used in club racing.
