Sailing Instructions 2026

Three amendments to the Sailing Instructions are in effect from 3 July 2026. See below.

There are some changes in the Sailing Instructions for 2026 – please read them carefully. The main changes affecting racing are highlighted below.

Sailing Instructions A – General, for all fleets. Note changes in A10 Prohibited Areas and new Appendix A1 Notes for Competitors. Amendment 1 changes A11 Commercial Shipping – it now applies to a wider range of large vessels.

Sailing Instructions B – Fixed-mark courses starting from a committee vessel. Note changes in B3 Marks, B4 Start and B5 Course. Amendment 2 makes changes to cover a situation where the main committee boat cannot anchor.

Sailing Instructions C – Coastal races. Some changes in line with Sailing Instructions B above. Amendment 2 makes further changes in line with Sailing Instructions B.

Sailing Instructions D – Dinghies, including course card. Amendment 2 makes changes to cover a situation where the main committee boat cannot anchor. Amendment 3 makes changes to allow the sequence of starts to be shortened when the number of competitors is low.

Sailing Instructions G – Green Fleet, including course card. Amendment 2 makes changes to cover a situation where the main committee boat cannot anchor.

Sailing Instructions H – Fixed-mark courses starting from the West Pier Hut. Note changes in H5 Course, especially a new restriction in H5.10.

Sailing Instructions for Water Wags

Amendments to the Sailing Instructions

Amendment 1 applies to all competitors. It changes Sailing Instructions A, section A11.

Amendment 2 affects all committee boat starts and finishes. It changes Sailing Instructions Supplements B, C, D and G.

Amendment 3 affects dinghies only. It changes Sailing Instructions Supplement D.

Course Cards 2026

These are for keelboats racing on fixed-mark courses. Many courses have been revised for 2026, except courses for the Red Fleet on Thursdays, which were revised in 2025 (only course E3 has changed there).

Course Card 1 – Saturday, Committee Vessel

DBSC Marks, Bearings and Distances

DBSC Racing Marks Chart 2025 applicable for 2026. Note that Merrion mark has been moved slightly to facilitate marine survey work. The position of Battery mark has been updated. Omega mark will not be a data buoy this year. The Racing Marks Chart has not been updated to show these small changes – it shows the approximate positions of the marks.

Personal Flotation Devices

The Department of Transport has issued two relevant Marine Notices:

Marine Notice No. 32 of 2019 sets out the legal requirements.

Marine Notice No. 16 of 2025 is a more user-friendly document.

Dublin Port

We would ask all our Members to be aware of the Dublin Port channel, with large vessels arriving and departing, restricted in their ability to manoeuvre. See Notice to Mariners No. 19 of 2026

Marine survey work is scheduled in the Western part of Dublin Bay between April and September. See Notice to Mariners No. 39 of 2026
